Northern Shaolin Kung fu
The Continuous Steps Form is the shortest form in Northern Shaolin taught by Sifu Wong Jackman system with only about 30 movements. Continuous Steps is an excellent form that is easy to learn, practical for self defense, and very useful for developing good posture and mechanics. This is another form that is used for foundation training by multiple systems.
The Continuous Steps Form teaches how to withdraw from a Bow Stance into a Crane Stance or Empty Stance and then step out again into a deep Bow Stance. This type of movement was not present in the Tam Teui or Springy Legs Form. Continuous Steps also teaches how to advance from one deep Bow Stance forward with a single step into another deep Bow Stance on the other side. These patterns expand the mechanics taught in Springy Legs. This form is really helpful for perfecting ones’ Bow Stances. Advanced students will often return to Continuous Steps and use it to perfect the fine points of their stance work. This form is also helpful in training the leg skills necessary to control the distance between oneself and the opponent.
